Gears of War

Holy crap! This is possibly the best game ever, and no matter what you say Buster, yes it does have a plot. The prestory is about the Locust which are an alien species living beneath the surface of this planet you live on, after a while the technology of the world makes the Locust aware of you and they decide they want the planet for themselves as they attempt to spread their hive. The main character Seras something or other is one of the soldiers caught up in the first conflict where you drive them underground for a short time, but after defying an order you are courtmartialed and sent to jail. You start off in prison for a war crime (not to be uncovered until later in the game), but an old friend comes and busts you out of the decaying prison now being over run by Locust, you and your friend escape and rejoin the military which is now desperate for man power since at this point the Locust have over run the planet and Humanity is almost driven to extinction. After rejoining a new unit (delta group) you are sent to find the Alpha squad that is lost deep in enemy territory, you make your way in losing two squadmates while gaining more (best is Cole "Train" an ex-football quarterback), after saving what's left of Alpha squad your new squad is reassigned a mission that could save humanity. You must take a tracking device to the deepest point of Locust territory so that you can map out their hive and destroy them for good.

Best game ever, the mace grenades, the chainsaw gun (lancer rifle) and the variety of characters that can add a touch of grim humor in the most terrifying scenes.

Oh and the Locust are ugly as sin. Especially their beserkers (giant blind Locust that are atleast twice the normal size and coated a naturally resiliant exoskeleton).

The plot still sucks because of meager online reviews. Oh yeah, and the one advertisement on television that I saw made the plot totally suck even more.

I wonder if Re:FoM competes with this game at all, seeing as how GoW is 360's Uber Game and Resistance is PS3's Uber Game.
Is the multiplayer any good? *Still doesn't feel like getting a 360 unless Lottery is won*

Multiplayer is great.

You get the array of weapons that are availible in SP plus a few that I havn't seen in SP yet. Also you can either play as the Locust or the COG (humans), the matches are fun because of the small scale of them, the max size is eight players. There are several different game types, you have the classics like team deathmatch, CTF ect... then you have their MP styles like assassination, something that has to do with the Hammer of Dawn (Imagine harbinger from Deadlocked) and then there is a mode (I don't remember the name) where you can do 4 vs 1 which are really fun. And another great addition to Gears is that enough hits in a non vital zone won't kill them like in convential FPS games but will instead bring them to a close to death state where they can be revived but the enemy has to either let the bleed out (where the blood loss kills them :/ ) or you run over and kill them in what ever way you deem amusing. Although to balance this team members can run over and tap the X button to revive you. Also the HP system works much like Halo 2s where you can take the damage but then the gauge recharges to full. The thing that makes it probably the most realistic (well for a scifi shooter :p) is the take cover ability, by pressing the A button you will dive for the closest cover and take shelter against it, then you can blind fire by just pressing shoot, or you can hold down the Left trigger to take aim. Oh and let's not forget the active reload where you press reload and then when the reloading bar reaches the prime spot you can press reload again and you will reload faster and have a damage bonus for that round of ammo, but if you miss it you jam your gun.

From what I've heard R: FoM has a spectacular campain but the MP is lacking or does it have MP? I can't remember. XP
